BABIES were born on 16.02.2010

This is just a glimpse of the births.
The stages of the births have been recorded.
There are some GRAPHIC illustrations of the births and it may not be to everyone's taste.

The day before had been awesome. Both Larlar and Lottie had been super affectionate, following me everywhere and we had some fantastic cuddles. Its a time to feel so close to your girls. Larlar in the afternoon had been especially clingy and slept a lot too. Later in the afternoon I noticed her purring and trembling!! I Somehow guessed. Purring can be a stress reaction and its certainly a reaction to pain. Her purring got louder and ever more rhythmical, as the day passed. As 'we' (us humans) can, cats too have Braxton Hicks, so you don't KNOW  for sure.  At 3.00am I heard Larlar digging, I shot up out of bed to see 'evidence' that something 'WAS' happening................
Larlar had 5 kittens & Lottie 6. It was wonderful to share this experience with my girls.............

1.  The birth sack is visible
2. There is 'bulging' now, as the kitten moves down. Its now the Mummy becomes committed to pushing and you see for the first time, the kitten.
3. The sack breaks, its breach, the kitten's claws have broken through and now a foot can clearly be seen.

4. A leg. Its often at this stage the Mummy will become agitated and purring strengthens or she may pant.
5. A bottom and body. I awaited another push for the shoulders and another for the head.
You can now see some muconium in the 'liquor'. This is the fluid that surrounds the kitten. Muconium is the kittens bowel moment. Its indicative of the kitten being stressed, however with kitten deliveries, its not often of significant consequence.
6. A kitten. Still partially in its sack, the Mummy will be swift now to start licking her baby.
7 Mums licking and the kitten starts to respond. Phew!
8. Mums got a responsive kitten and as the cord elongates she can get to work, chewing through it.
9. More licking. To  stimulate, bond, and clean.
10. Birth mayhem! Before the Mummy starts pushing again, I do remove the kittens and place them on a heat pad. However kittens suckling strengthens the Mummy's contractions. Getting 'stood' on also stimulates the kittens to breath and respond.
10. Such love and tenderness
Lottie's 'story'...........................
* Kittens instinctively scratch their heads to clear the membranes away form their air-ways.
Larlar had 5 babies and only two were girls!!! Lottie had 6 babies and all 6 were boys.
I am keeping a girl 'for me' and the other girl is reserved. I know some people were holding their breath for a girl and will be so very disappointed. This I am sorry for but its truly out of my hands xxxxxxxxxxxx
* Take a look at Lottie's story. To see the kitten clearing away membranes from its face and airways, before taking its first breath.
Who cares if I suck my Mummy's toes !
Sphynx are very tactile. The Mums touch and cuddle their babies constantly.
Job done.

  Day 6

                            Lottie's babies
This bit of photography took me 'somewhere' else. It was so serene.
Lottie and Larlar are fantastic Mummies. Their trust is second to none. We have had so many bonding moments and despite their huge distraction to 'the task in hand', never have I felt so close to them both.
The babies are really trying to keep their eyes open and gain their balance.
  Day 6

                               Larlar's babies
Larlar really does cuddle her babies and I feel she is happy when they are sleeping, on full tummies.
They purr when feeding. This sounds like distant pneumatic drills. Wondrous to the enth degree.
  Day 7

                                 Lottie's babies
  Day 7

                                 Larlar's babies
Eyes are now open and those little ears are now starting to go up!!!!!
All in 7 days, what a miracle !
In just a week so much has happened.
These babies have grown and changed soooooooooooooooooo much.
They all come toward me with their wobbly gates and there endless purrs, in true Sphynx 'style'.
Thank heavens for my dear catzzzzzzzzz.

Week 1

The week has flown. The babies are beautiful. They have now had their first bath and their claws cleaned and clipped.

You have just got to so loooooooooove wrinkles !!

Week 2

A week of bathing and claw clipping.........Yes its now a necessity.
They are having two sponge-downs a week and their claws are clipped and cleaned weekly.

They are still heavily dependant on their Mummy. Mobility and responding to me is on the increase.

I put my head to their nest and they all attempt to come over.
They are easily identifiable and all have nick names.......

               Kitten heaven x
They are all
'so nearly there'
with their walking, however
'not there yet'

Week 3

Another week of bathing and claw clipping........They are all so well behaved.

They are showing interest in their baby cat biscuits and wondering out of their nest. They are now interactive with me and want to play...........

They are now starting to play a little rough and tumble with each other, however they are still uncoordinated and there is more far 'tumble' than rough!!
